The aptly named book by Mark Manson concentrates on teaching people how to live better lives by concentrating on few things. He walks you through how to not give a f*ck about things that don't add to your life, and how to reach your dreams and personal goals.
What does the book say?
Whatever you do in life will be a challenge, but you need to ensure you're struggling in the right direction.
If you don't have a goal you're working towards, then you'll doubtless fail.
Instead of looking for an easy life, look for a goal that you're willing to struggle to reach.
Once you've identified this goal that you enjoy working towards and makes you happy, don't give a f*ck about anything else.
Positive change can only have when you take full responsibility.
The labels you give yourself – happy, sad, doctor, accountant – are all mental constructs. They are not fixed, and so can be easily changed.
Find healthy values to judge your achievements by. Instead of comparing to others and material wealth, judge them by values like honesty, creativity and generosity.
What actions can I take:
Stop giving a f*ck about power, fame and wealth, and concentrate on the present. Look to spread happiness wherever you are.
Build a happy life by focusing on the things you enjoy.
